JC Thomson says the Fitzgerald setts were designed by Robt P. Fitzgerald of Philadelphia, basing the Blue, Hunting and Dress on a Robertson tartan. Sample in Scottish Tartans Authority Johnston Collection. Woven by Strathmore in the UK. - 1975 — Fitzgerald Family (Name) (tartans-authority, record)

What is meant by the term Fitzherald 'Family' is not known - possibly an American way of categorising a conventional clan/family tartan.
