This was originally a blanket sett that was restructured by tartan doyen Jamie Scarlett MBE for a Mrs McBrayer from Lochmaben (Madam May McKerrell of Hillhouse). The family was originally named MacBrair of Almagill & Netherwood. - undated — McBrayer (register-of-tartans, record)
This was named MacBrair of Almagill & Netherwood but May McKerrel said it was originally a blanket sett and had now been adopted as the MacBrayer tartan.
