- 01/01/2002 — Robinson Dress (Pendleton) #1 (register-of-tartans, record)
Scottish Tartans Society records state: 'From Pendleton: 'of Irish and Scottish origin this tartan is ancient and is worn on great family occasions by the clan. The maroon shade is the royal or styrian purple.' What historical evidence this is based on is not known but it's highly unlikely to have any substance since there is no evidence of tartan in the Irish world. Having said that however, the tartan seems to have been seized upon by/for Robinsons and no amount of academic huffing & puffing can undo that. Inquirie have been made at Pendleton of Oregon (May 2006) - pre 2002 — Robinson Dress (Name) (tartans-authority, record)
