    Also Thomas Smibert 'The Clans of the Highlands of Scotland' 1850 plate No 8. Wilson's comment on this sett in Logan's 'The Scottish Gael' was, "The scale given of this tartan is very defective - a correct one is given - note this pattern is...(the sentence stops)". One might assume that the last word should be 'asymmetrical'. The correct one given is not present but a Wilson sample of the period is very similar to the one listed in this database, attributed to McIan. Wilsons of Bannockburn a weaving firm founded c1770 near Stirling.
