Provenance

Earliest known date: 2007 There had been no previous tartan for the senior branch of the ancient Lords of Galloway . This was designed by MacDowall of Garthland* in conjunction with Gordon Kirkbright of Fraser & Kirkbright, weavers of Vancouver B.C. The design is a much modified Hunting Stewart of Galloway incorporating the Macdowall of Galloway livery colours. Prof. Fergus Day Hort Macdowall of that Ilk, Garthland and Castlesemple, Chief of the MacDowalls.
