Earliest known date: May 2005 A new design for the Clan Wardlaw. A darker more muted version of this tartan is woven for kilts. The pattern remains the same.

    Designed by Diane Wardlaw of the Clan Wardlaw Association [www.clanwardlaw.com] and Maxine Scott of The House of Tartan. The ground colour of purple is for 'the many royal connections the Wardlaws have had through history.' A muted version of the Wardlaw tartan is also available. The Wardlaw tartan is available from The House of Tartan.
  • August 2005 — Wardlaw (Clan) (tartans-authority, record)
    Designed by Diane Wardlaw of the Clan Wardlaw Association [www.clanwardlaw.com] and developed for weaving by the House of Tartan, Comrie, Perthshire. The ground colour of purple is for "the many royal connections the Wardlaws have had through history."
